Can there be a Trump?

Hello,

A " Trump " is an element that dominates all others- like a suit in a game of cards, for example. Many of us that have learned to think ecologically are more comfortable with concepts of interlocking and interdependent elements that form a whole system. This mode of thinking is certainly important it and offers us a way to operate in the world that sustains us and the natural elements that we depend on.

Global Warming is a " Trump " because it has begun to overwhelm the functioning of the world as we know it. As surely as the South Asian tsunami wiped out every day life along the shore of those ravaged countries, Global Warming will re-order life on the entire planet. Oh, and its duration will be measured in hundreds of years.

Preservation of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has been an issue championed by many mainstream environmental organizations There is only one thing wrong with that: In twenty years, that land and millions of square miles of land like it will be destroyed anyway. The destruction will be not be due to the drilling equipment of the oil companies. The change of tundra to mush and white ice to dark water will be due to steadily rising temperatures. This process has begun, and has been well documented for years.

Addressing the cause of this warming has been stymied until now by the oil, coal and gas conpanies. The reason is no surprise and no secret- it is this fossil fuel industry that has, in large part, caused the problem!
