Issues:

After conversations with my neighbors and friends in the 7 th District, I have arrived at the conclusion that the issues I list below are the “real” concerns that effect the quality of life concerns of the people of the 7 th District as well as elsewhere in New Castle County. These issues are and will continue to be subjects of my concerns during my term as The Council Person having the privilege of representing the people of the 7 th County Council District.

Ethics: Unethical use of NC Employees to perform Political work. The lack of avoiding the Appearance of wrong doing In the administration of county Business and affairs as well as the use of nepotism in the granting of county contracts. The maintenance by the current New Castle County political class, of a culture of "political dirty tricks". The need to strengthen The NC County Ethics Commission.   The need to Strengthen and Provide for the independence Of The NC County Auditors office. The use of taxpayer monies to Benefit the use of “Special Interests”. Environmental: Dupont (Vx), Metachem, Motiva, (now Premcor) Issues. Dredge & Coastal Zone Issues. County Council: Ending the “blank check” for outside attorney fees work awarded by Council at the 1/28/04 Meeting. Strengthen The Maintenance and Civic organizations by granting them the authority they need to function effectively. Utilize Councils investigative powers to investigate misuse of taxpayers money. Civic & Social: Inadequate Police & 911 capacity.   Growing crime rates in a rapidly growing county. The inability of New Castle to deliver “the real” services its citizens need in a timely and uncomplicated manner. Research into the creation of a light rail and effective Transit Systems to handle growing Transit needs. Note! My friends that this is only a partial list of the concerns that we are going to continue to face here in New Castle County in the coming years. Problems we face now that we can address in a positive way to ensure a better life for ourselves, our children and our neighbors. Our concentration on “Future Focus” now will continue the social, civic, political and environmental safe quality of life we all want to enjoy.
